SC issues show cause order on Lamichanne’s passport case

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday issued a show cause order on a writ petition filed against the Office of the Attorney General for not pursuing the passport-related case of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane.

A single bench of  Justice Hari Prasad Phuyal on Wednesday issued the order after hearing the writ petition filed by Yubraj Paudel. The court, however, did not issue an interim order.

Paudel had filed a writ petition at the apex court challenging the decision of the Office of the Attorney General.

Attorney General Dinmani Pokharal on March 20 had decided not to file a case against Lamichhane under the Passport Act.
