Tanahun-1: Former IGP Sarendra Khanal files nomination from UML

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML leader and former IGP Sarbendra Khanal has filed his nomination for the by-election to the House of Representatives from Tanahun-1 on Monday.

He filed his nomination by reaching the election officer’s office in Tanahun.

Bhagwati Neupane proposed his candidacy while Ek Bahadur Rana seconded the proposal.

Three persons have filed their nominations in the region so far.

Ram Prasad Prajapati of the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party and Purna Bahadur Rana of the Rastriya Janamukti Party have filed their nominations, Chief Election Officer’s Office, Tanahun said.

The area remained vacant after Nepali Congress lawmaker Ram Chandra Paudel was elected as the President.

The election has been scheduled for April 23.
