HETAUDA: Bagmati Province Chief Minister Shalikram Jamarkattel is seeking a vote of confidence today.

Chief Minister Jamarkattel is seeking a vote of confidence for the second time today after the Rastriya Prajatantra Party withdrew support extended to the government.

Province Assembly Secretariat Chief Secretary Krishna Hari Khadka said that the Province Assembly meeting has been called for 3 pm today.

Earlier, Chief Minister Jamarkattel had received the vote of confidence from more than two-thirds of lawmakers from the Province Assembly.

He had secured votes from 105 lawmakers of six political parties including CPN-UML and Nepali Congress.

Three lawmakers from the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party had cast their votes against him.

The Rastriya Prajatantra Party has made a decision to not vote in favour of Jamarkattel today. The CPN-UML, however, has not made the decision on the issue yet.

Jamarkattel was elected as the Chief Minister of Bagmati Province with the support of 70 lawmakers from the five political parties including the CPN-UML on January 9.

This is the first time that the province government is seeking a vote of confidence for the second time.
