Doctors withdraw protest following agreement with government

KATHMANDU: The agitating doctors have withdrawn all the protest programmes following a six-point agreement with the government talks team.

Both the talks team led by Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers Secretary Ganesh Prasad Pandey and Nepal Medical Council Chairman Dr Lochan Karki signed the agreement this afternoon.

According to a statement issued after agreement, the government will arrange the treatment of the injured doctor and take action against the policeman who assaulted the doctor within a week by completing the investigation as the probe has already been started by suspending him.

It has also been stressed on implementing the provisions related to safety of health workers and health institutions in accordance with Act 2066 and making the security of the health workers and health institutions more effective.
