Woman, who tried to save 45yo man from self-immolation, dies of burn injuries

KATHMANDU: A woman, Sangita Sapkota (35) died from burn injuries sustained while trying to save her tenant, a 45-year-old man named Krishna Bahadur Chhetri, from self-immolation.

Sapkota of Kahunkhola of Pokhara metropolis-13 succumbed to injuries on Monday during her treatment at Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences.

Sapkota had received severe burn injuries while trying to prevent Chhetri from self-immolation.

The man who attempted to self-immolate is being treated in the Academy.

A 45-year-old man from Madi Rural Municipality Kaski had attempted self-immolation in Pokhara on Sunday.

Further investigation into the case is underway, police said.
