Sonam Lhosar being observed across the nation

KATHMANDU: People from Tamang Community are celebrating Sonam Lhosar, the beginning of the New Year, with much fan fare on Sunday.

They celebrate the festival by organising various programmes and exchanging good wishes.

On this day, the Tamang community spends the day with their closed ones and eat delicacies.

Sonam Lhosar is celebrated on the first day of the new moon during the month of Magh in Bikram Sambat calendar.

The government has declared a public holiday to celebrate the festival.
