UML’s Ghimire registers nomination for Speaker’s post

KATHMANDU: Devraj Ghimire of the CPN-UML filed his nomination for the post of Speaker on behalf of the ruling coalition on Wednesday.

Ghimire registered his nomination after reaching the Parliament building in New Baneshwor.

UML Parliamentary Party deputy leader Subash Nembang proposed his candidacy while CPN (Maoist Center) Chief Whip Hitraj Pandey, Rastriya Swatantra Party Chairman and Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane and Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy Rajendra Lingden seconded the proposal.

After filing nomination, Ghimire said that he will take ahead the Parliament on the basis of consensus.

CPN (Maoist Centre), Rastriya Swatantra Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Janamat Party and Unmukti Party along with CPN-UML are in the ruling coalition.
