Rape-accused Sandeep Lamichhane released on bail (With photos and video)

KATHMANDU: Former national cricket team captain Sandeep Lamichhane, who was arrested on the rape charge on October 6, has been released on bail after 99 days on Friday.

The Patan High Court on Thursday had ordered the release of Lamichhane with conditions.

He was released today after posting a bail of Rs 2 million.

A chargesheet was filed against Lamichhane on January 13 demanding 10-12 years of imprisonment.

The Kathmandu District Attorney’s Office filed the rape charge against Lamichhane at the Kathmandu District Court.

Earlier on September 7, a 17-year-old girl had filed a rape case against Lamichhane.

On October 6, police arrested Lamichhane from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

Lamichanne has been in police custody since then.
