Maoist Centre’s Baburam Gautam elected Province 1 Speaker unopposed (With video)

BIRATNAGAR: CPN (Maoist Centre) leader Baburam Gautam has been elected unopposed as the Speaker of Province 1.

Gautam was elected as a province assembly member from Okhaldhunga-2.

He will take the oath of office of secrecy at 1 pm today.

Senior member Jayananda Mandal announced that Gautam was elected unopposed as he was the only candidate to file nomination for the post.

CPN-UML lawmaker Pradeep Kumar Bhandari was elected as the Speaker of Province 1 in the first term.

The election to the post of deputy speaker has been scheduled for January 14.
