CPN (US) to support Dahal-led government with conditions

KATHMANDU: The CPN (Unified Socialist) party has decided to extend support to the Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led government with conditions.

A Secretariat meeting held on Tuesday decided to support the Dahal-led government with conditions.

Deputy General Secretary Jagannath Khatiwada said that the party will stay in the opposition after giving a vote of confidence to the government.

“We will give a vote of confidence with a condition. The party will withdraw support to the government any time if the conditions or agendas are not addressed. We will play the role of opposition,” he said.

Khatiwada, however, did not say anything clearly about the conditions put forward by the CPN (US).

He said that they will move ahead after Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal presents the party’s agendas in the Parliament.

The CPN (US) has 10 lawmakers in the House of Representatives.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is scheduled to seek a vote of confidence in the Parliament meeting today.

CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Centre), Rastriya Swatantra Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Janamat Party, Janata Samajbadi Party, Nagarik Unmukti Party and some independent lawmakers had support Dahal when presented the claim.
