6 killed, 17 injured in Palpa bus accident

RUPANDEHI: Six persons died and 17 others were injured when a bus met with an accident at Khursani in Rainadevi Chahara Rural Municipality-8 of Palpa on Thursday.

The deceased have been identified as Nirmala Devi (36), Saru Maya Ghimire (11), Khim Kumari Rana (54), Giri Kumari Gaha (40) of Khursani, Rainadevi-8, Sam Kumari Khatri (20), and Bina Pandey (21).

Police said that the tragedy occurred when the ill-fated bus (Ga 1 Kha 4977) heading towards Khursani of Rainadevi Chahara, Palpa from Saljhandi, Rupandehi fell some 50 metres down the road last night.

According to police, the injured are undergoing treatment at the Lumbini Provincial Hospital.

Police said that they are looking into the case.
