Government to hold National Assembly by-election on February 8

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to hold the National Assembly by-election on February 8.

A Cabinet meeting held on Thursday decided to hold the by-election for a National Assembly member seat representing Lumbini Province.

The seat has been lying vacant after Khim Lal Bhattarai, elected from Lumbini Province, tendered his resignation on October 9 to contest the election.

Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane said that government Bishnu Poudel will make the official decision of the Cabinet on Friday.

He said that the meeting also discussed the Common Minimum Program of the government.

Minister Lamichhane said that the meeting has decided to give final shape to the Common Minimum Program on Friday itself.
