SC issues interim order not to implement decision of Parliament Secretariat

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court on Friday issued an interim order directing the government not to implement the decision of Parliament Secretariat to make an impeachment motion filed against Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana ineffective.

The constitutional bench issued the order after the preliminary hearing today.

The Parliament Secretariat had handed a letter over to Rana, stating that the motion filed against him had become ineffective, a week before his mandatory retirement.

The Nepal Bar Association had filed a writ at the apex court against the decision of the Parliament Secretariat.

Earlier, the full court of the Supreme Court had asked for clarification from the Parliament Secretariat.

The constitutional bench comprises acting Chief Justice Hari Krishna Karki, Justices Bishowmber Prasad Shrestha, Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada, Ananda Mohan Bhattarai and Anil Kumar Sinha.
