UML accuses ruling alliance of conducting election campaigns in border areas with China by using chopper

BIRATNAGAR: The CPN-UML has accused the ruling alliance of conducting the election campaigns by using a helicopter in the border areas with China against the election code of conduct.

Rajendra Gautam of the UML and Deepak Khadka of the ruling alliance are contesting the election to the House of Representatives slated for November 20 in Sankhuwasabha.

The helicopter of Everest Pvt Ltd was chartered in the name of patient Tshering Bhote.

Earlier, the Home Ministry had given permission to make flights for Sunday in the restricted areas in Khandbari, Kimathanka and Hatiya of Sankhuwasabha.

The name of only one person Tsering Bhote was mentioned in the letter.

The permission was given for additional 72 hours to make flights in the district in case of good weather.

Issuing a statement, the UML Sankhuwasabha claimed that the ruling alliance conducted the election campaigns by using a helicopter even though it is sensitive to make flights in the border areas.

District Secretary Khadka Rai said that though they had informed the issue time and again to the office of the Chief Election Officer and the Election Office but to no avail.

Meanwhile, Chief District Officer Birendra Yadav said that they are looking into the case.
