Those violating election code of conduct will not be speared: EC

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission said that those who violate the election code of conduct will be taken stern action.

Speaking at a press conference organised in the Capital on Wednesday, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya said that the poll body has sought clarification from 71 persons and institutions for breaching the election code of conduct.

“We have taken ahead the process to take action on the basis of answers furnished by them,” he said.

Thapaliy said that the prime minister and ministers can take part in the election campaigns only by taking permission from the Election Commission.

He, however, made it clear that the people’s representatives cannot use the government resources.
