5 killed, 30 injured in Chitwan bus accident

KATHMANDU: Five persons died and 30 others sustained injuries when a bus they were travelling in met with an accident at Mathar in Bulingtar Rural Municipality-2, East Nawalparasi.

The incident occurred when the bus (Na 6 Kha 7580) heading towards Manakamana of Gorkha from Rampur of Palpa fell some 150 metres down the road this morning, the Area Police Office, Bulingtar said.

According to DSP Santosh Pathak, Information Officer at the District Police Office, East Nawalparasi, the deceased have been identified as Tara BK, Binay BK, Dhani BK and Devi Gaha of Rambha Rural Municipallity-1of Palpa and Phul Maya Majhi of Galyang Municipality-9 of Syangja.

Similarly, the injured have been identified as bus driver Dil Kumar Shrestha of Gandaki Thik, Rampur Municipality-3, Palpa, assistant driver Sajan Shrestha of Bejhad, Rampur-4, Ankit Sunar, Krishna Kewat, Prabin Sunar, Ram Bahadur BK, Rita BK, Kashiram BK, Bishal BK, Ayesha BK, Abinash BK, Pushpa BK and Meghnath BK of Rambha-1.

Likewise, Dil Maya Rana, Rabina Rana of Belchaur Municipality-9, Syangja, Sumitra BK of Jhadewa, Palpa, Rima BK, Sanju Sunar, Prem Bahadur Sunar, Ashish Sunar, Bijay BK, Maya BK of Rambha Rural Municipality-1, Manoj Kumar BK, Sarita Majhi, Uma Kumari BK, Ramu Rana of Galyang-8, Syangja, Ashmita Sunar, Om Bahadur BK, Seti BK and Shiva Kumari BK of Rambha-1 were also injured in the incident.

Among the injured, two are in critical condition, police said.

All of them are receiving treatment in Bharatpur of Chitwan.
