Sub-variant of Omicron detected in Nepal

KATHMANDU: A new sub-variant of Omicron has been detected for the first time in Nepal recently.

Issuing a statement, the Ministry of Health and Population said that the sub-variant was detected during genome sequencing of some samples collected from the people of various age groups from August 6 to September 30.

Saying that this variant has been spreading in other countries of the world as well, the Ministry has urged the people to follow the safety measures—wear face masks, wash hands or use sanitisers and maintain physical distance.
