Patient’s death triggers protest against KMC hospital (With photos)

KATHMANDU: Irate kin and kith staged a demonstration against the Kathmandu Medical College (KMC) on Wednesday, claiming that the patient died due to the negligence of the doctor.

Shailendra Bidhyadhar (47) of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-9, who was admitted to the hospital a week ago, was pronounced dead on Sunday evening.

Shailendra’s relatives have demanded justice with the government.

Son Pragesh said that his father died after the doctor cut the vein of the head during the operation of the tumor.

He said that Shailendra was admitted to the hospital on October 9 after he fell unconscious.

The patient, who was kept in the emergency room, was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after two hours saying that he should be treated in the ICU.

When the health of Shailendra deteriorated, doctors told them that he had to undergo an operation immediately, Pragesh said.

He claimed that his father died after the doctor cut the vein of the health during the operation of the tumor.

The KMC has been claiming that there is no fault of the hospital.

According to Pragesh, the hospital has challenged them to move the court.
