Govt announces public holiday on Tuesday to mourn centenarian Joshi’s death

KATHMANDU: The government has announced a public holiday on Tuesday to mourn the demise of centenarian cultural expert Satya Mohan Joshi.

Home Ministry spokesperson Phanindra Mani Pokharel said that all the government offices, public organizations and diplomatic missions will be closed tomorrow to mourn the death of Joshi.

Likewise, the government has also decided to fly the national flag at half-mast.

Joshi passed away on Sunday at the age of 103.

He breathed his last during the course of treatment at the Kist Medical College in Imadole, Lalitpur this morning.

Narendra Raj Prasai, a source close to the family, said that he passed away at 7: 09 am today.

Joshi had been suffering from pneumonia and was also found infected with dengue recently.

The KIST Medical College had been providing Joshi and his spouse free medical treatment.
