Sandeep Lamichhane remanded in police custody for seven days

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has remanded suspended Nepal national cricket team skipper Sandeep Lamichhane, who was arrested on the rape charge, in police custody for seven days for investigation.

Although Lamichhane was detained four days ago, he was not taken to the court seeking to remand him in judicial custody for further investigation due to public holiday.

A 17-year-old girl had filed a rape complaint against Lamichhane at the Metropolitan Police Circle, Gaushala when he was out of the country.

He returned to Nepal almost a month after an arrest warrant was issued against him.

Though he expressed his desire to turn himself in, police apprehended him upon landing at the Tribhuvan International Airport.
