Candidates vying for November 20 elections to file nominations today

KATHMANDU: Candidates vying for the November 20 elections to the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly are filing their nominations today.

Nomination of the candidates contesting in the first-past-the-post system for 165 House of Representatives and 330 Provincial Assembly constituencies are being registered in the respective Office of the Returning Officers.

According to the Election Commission, nominations can be registered by the candidate him/herself or by the candidate’s representative at the concerned office of the Chief Returning Officer and Returning Officer from 10 am to 5 pm today.

The election schedule published by the commission states that the list of candidates whose nominations are registered today will be published on October 9 from 5 to 7 pm, the time for filing complaints against the candidates is from 10 am to 3 pm on October 10, and the time for examining and deciding on nomination papers and complaints is on October 10 from 3 to 5 pm.

Similarly, the draft list of candidates will be published on October 11 from 5 pm to 7 pm, the time to withdraw the candidacy is on October 12 from 10 am to 1 pm and the final list of candidates will be published from 1 pm to 3 pm on the October 12, election symbols will be provided to the candidates from 4 pm on the same day.

The Commission has already established 165 election officers with 77 chief returning officers and 88 returning officers for the election to be held on November 20.

Meanwhile, the commission has published the closed list of candidates for the proportional system of the election.

According to the election schedule, the closed list was supposed to be published on October 9 from 5 to 7 pm, but it was published only today morning. RSS
