Bara bus accident: Death toll reaches 16 (Update)

HETAUDA: The death toll in the Bara bus accident has reached 16.

According to Inspector Balram Shrestha, spokesperson the District Police Office, Makwanpur,  12 persons succumbed to injuries during treatment at Hetauda Hospital, two died at Chure Hill hospital while one died at Makwanpur Cooperative Hospital and another died in Chitwan.

The identities of nine persons of the 16 who list their lives in the incident have been established, police said.

The 9 deceased have been identified as Bajrina Khatun (35) of Kalaiya 10, Bara, Somprasad Chaurasiya ( 65), Munnidevi Chaurasiya (35) of Parsa, Birgunj, Subhalaxmi Shrestha (55) and Swastika Shrestha (20) of Hetauda-7, Makwanpur, Intak Ansari (22) of Kalaiya, Bara, Suresh BK (28), Lal Bahadur Bogati of Amlekhgunj, Bara and Ambika Kandel of Gorkha.

The accident occurred when the bus (Bagmati Province 006-00 Kha 0210) heading towards Birgunj from Hetauda fell some 100 meters down the road this afternoon, said the District Police Office, Makwanpur.
