Hearing on writs related to Citizenship Bill authentication postponed for Sunday

KATHMANDU: Hearing on the writ petitions related to the authentication of the Bill designed to amend the Nepal Citizenship Act, 2063, which was scheduled for today at the Supreme Court, has been postponed for Sunday.

The petitions were scheduled to be heard today but it has been postponed for Sunday, said SC Spokesperson Bimal Paudel.

A single bench of Justice Manoj Kumar Sharma was scheduled to hear the case.

As many as five writ petitions were filed at the apex court on Thursday after President Bidya Devi Bhandari refused to certify the bill.

The petitions demanded a directive against President Bidya Devi Bhandari to authenticate the Citizenship Bill.
