Probe committee asks for CCTV footage of south and west gates of Singhadurbar
KATHMANDU: The probe committee formed to investigate charges against former Finance Minister Janardan Sharma has asked for the CCTV footage of the south and west gates to gather evidence and to find out who entered Singhadurbar the night before budget formulation.
Probe committee member secretary Surendra Aryal said that the members of the committee has decided to ask for CCTV footage of south and west gates of Singhadurbar, the main administrative building of the government.
Lawmakers had demanded the resignation of Sharma in the Parliament after the Finance Ministry said that the ministry’s footage will last only for 13 days.
Sharma has already resigned from his post and also recorded his statement in the committee.
The CPN-UML has four lawmakers, Nepali Congress two, Unified Socialist Party one, Loktantrik Samajbadi one and Democratic Socialist Party has one lawmaker in the committee.
The line of the ruling coalition’s lawmakers will be endorsed if the committee has to take the decision on the basis of majority and minority votes.
Khagraj Adhikari, Pradeep Gwayali, Bhanubhakta Dhakal and Bimala are the members of the committee from the UML.
Similarly, Man Bahadur Bishwokarma and Sita Ram Mahata from the Nepali Committee, Dev Prasad Gurung and Shakti Basnet from the CPN (Maoist Centre), Sarala Yadav rom the CPN (Unified Socialiat), Surendra Yadav from the Janata Samajbadi Party and Laxman Lal Karna from the Democratic Socialist Party are the members of the committee.
Former Minister Sharma is accused of inviting two unauthorised persons in his chamber to tweak tax a day before he presented the budget in the Parliament.
