CPN (US) youth leader Nepali arrested on rape charge

KATHMANDU : Police on Friday arrested Tikaram Nepali, a Secretariat member of Youth Association affiliated to CPN (Unified Socialist), on the charge of raping a woman.

Nepali was arrested from Hotel Access in Thamel.

He was accused of refusing to marry the girl after spending several nights in the hotel.

They both had went to the hotel on Thursday night but Nepali later got arrested after the girl called the police alleging that she had been sexually abused.

A rape complaint has been registered against Nepali, said Inspector Amrit Basnet of Metropolitan Police Sector Sorakhutte.

The girl who filed the complaint is above 20 years of age.
