Government decides to withdraw Citizenship Bill

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to withdraw the Citizenship Bill from the Parliament.

A minister told Nepal Press over phone that the government has decided to withdraw the Citizenship Bill.

It has been assumed that the government has decided to withdraw the bill to bring the ordinance.

The State Management and Good Governance Committee of the House of Representatives has already discussed and endorsed the Citizenship Bill which was presented in 2018.

The bill has been tabled in the House of Representatives now.

Leaders in the government have differing views on whether to grant citizenship to a foreign woman who marries a Nepali man immediately or after 7 years.
