SC directs government to make arrangements for prisoners to vote in upcoming elections

KATHMANDU : The Supreme Court (SC) issued an interim order directing the government to make arrangements for the prisoners to vote in upcoming parliamentary elections.

Hearing the writ petition filed by Nishant Malla and Pradesha KC, students of Kathmandu School of Law, a single bench of justice Sapana Malla on Friday issued the interim order to make arrangements for the jailbirds to vote in the forthcoming elections.

The court ordered the government to include the prisoners in the voters list for the proportional representation system.
