I will not sign any agreement against the interest of the country: PM

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba said that the government will not sign any agreement which will raise questions over the sovereignty of the country.

During a meeting with the senior leaders of the ruling coalition, he said that the government will not sign such an agreement with the United States.

His remarks come at a time when questions have been raised that the government is going to sign the State Partnership Program (SPP) with the United States.

The Prime Minister told CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Nepal and Janata Samajbadi Party Chairman Upendra Yadav that the facts made public on the SPP agreement were not true.

“I will never sign an agreement that is not in the interest of the country.  I will not sign the agreement without holding discussions with the leaders,” Nepal said as the PM saying.
