Government protecting culprits of Tikapur incident, claims Resham Chaudhary

KATHMANDU: Resham Chaudhary, who is doing time in Dillibazaar Prison after being convicted by the court in the Tikapur carnage, has clarified that he is not guilty.

He claimed that the government knows the reality of the incident.

Chaudhary’s wife Ranjita Shrestha has written on social media, “The government has been protecting the culprits. Instead they have been awarded.”

Shrestha is the central Chairperson of Nagarik Unmukti Party. She said that she wrote the statement written by Chaudhary on social media.

Nine people including a toddler were killed in the Tikapur incident that occurred in 2015.

The district court and high court had sentenced lawmaker Chaudhary to life imprisonment in the Tikapur incident. He is currently suspended.

But, Chaudhary has been saying that he has no involvement in the incident.

He accused the government of not making public the report of the committee formed to investigate the incident.
