KATHMANDU: The National Youth Association Nepal has filed a complaint at the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority demanding an investigation  into the irregularities in the embossed number plate.

The youth wing of the main opposition CPN-UML accused the government of trying to implement the embossed number plate system forcefully and also demanded an investigation into the irregularities in the embossed number plate.

Earlier on Tuesday, the cadres of the Youth Association Nepal staged a demonstration outside the Department of Transport against the government decision to reintroduce an embossed number plate system.

YAN Chairman Kiran Paudel, who is also a central member of the UML, said that the government has decided to implement the embossed number plate system in collision with Bhusan Rana, brother of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur’s wife.

Earlier, the Department of Transport Management had issued a warning stating all the vehicles operating in Bagmati and Gandaki provinces will be penalised under the Motor Vehicles and Transport Management Act, 2049 (1993) if they do not affix the embossed number plates by July 17.
