7 nabbed for gang raping 16-year-old girl in Banke

RUPANDEHI: Police have apprehended seven persons for allegedly gang raping a 16-year-old girl in Banke.

The detainees have been identified as Hemraj Tharu and his friends Bikrant Tharu,  Nirajan Tharu, Pravin Tharu, Raj Kumar Tharu, Bishwonath Tharu and Nirdeshan Tharu.

Most of them are in the age group of 23-25 years.

According to DSP Madhusudhan Neupane of the District Police Office, Banke, Hem Raj Tharu (17) of Baijanath Rural Municipality-8 and the girl had become friends on Facebook a year ago.

The two fell in love through Facebook.

The girl reached Mankhola by a public bus where Hem Raj had called her. They started consuming alcohol and also offered it to the girl on the pretext of celebrating her birthday.

After she got intoxicated, Hemraj, Bikrant, Nirajan, Pravin and Raj Kumar Tharu raped her, police said.

Meanwhile, the girl was taken to Bikrant Tharu’s pig farm at Pipari of Baijanath Rural Municipality-8 on a motorbike at midnight after she lost consciousness.

The girl was then again raped by Bikrant and Niranjan.

Police arrested Bishwonath and Nirdeshan after they were found with the girl on the motorbike ( Bhe 3 Pa 3527).

The incident came to light when the police interrogated them.

Police said that they are further investigating the case.
