Rajesh Man Singh elected Birgunj mayor

KATHMANDU: Rajesh Man Singh of Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) has been elected as the mayor of Birgunj Metropolitan City.

Singh defeated his closest contender Bijay Kumar Sarawagi of CPN (UML) with a wide margin of votes.

He secured 46,215 votes while Sarawagi got 23,671 votes.

Similarly, Imtiyaz Alam of the Nepali Congress has been elected as deputy mayor securing 25,158 votes.

His closest contender Purushottam Lal Jha of Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP) finished second with 6,719 votes.
