ASI mercilessly beats up polling officer, temporary police personnel and villagers in Surkhet

SURKHET: A police officer deployed for the security in the elections has mercilessly beaten up a polling officer, temporary police personnel and villagers in Surkhet.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Narendra Prasad Bhatta deployed at the polling station of Nepal National Residential School at Dhanbot in Panchapuri Municipality-7, Surkhet has beaten up polling officer Rajendra Dhamala, temporary police personnel and villagers under the influence of alcohol.

ASI Bhatta had entered Dhanbot Village at around 11 pm yesterday.

Eyewitnesses said that he entered the house of a local and started beating the villagers by brandishing the weapon.

According to Jha, Bhatta had thrashed assistant polling officer, temporary police officer and villagers from 11 pm Wednesday to 6 am Thursday.

Rajesh Nath Bastola, Acting Chief at the Karnali Province Police Office, said that they have taken ASI Bhatta under control for investigation.
