KATHMANDU: Additional Inspector General of Police Bishwo Raj Pokharel filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court against the decision of the government to appoint AIG Dhiraj Pratap Singh as the Inspector General of Nepal Police on Monday.

Information Officer at the Supreme Court Devendra Dhakal said that AIG Pokharel registered the petition this afternoon and the hearing will be held on Wednesday.

Pokharel has demanded interim order saying that Singh was appointed the chief of Nepal Police by violating the seniority basis.

A Cabinet meeting held on Sunday decided to appoint Singh, 16 months junior than Pokharel, as the Inspector General of Nepal Police.
