2 NC rebel candidates withdraw candidacies in Pokhara

POKHARA: Two candidates, who had filed their rebel candidacies for the post of mayor in Pokhara Metropolitan City from the Nepali Congress, withdrew their nominations on Friday.

Nanda Prasad Tiwari and Rishi Sapkota withdrew their candidacies this afternoon.

They had filed their nominations for the post of mayor against the coalition.

The duo said that they decided to withdraw their candidacies to protect democracy following the party’s directive.

Though Tiwari and Sapkota withdrew their candidacies, rebel candidate Bimal Karki has not withdrawn his nomination yet. He is also a Nepali Congress leader.

Earlier this morning, party President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba had urged the party mutineers to withdraw candidacies by 5 pm today.
