Identity card no longer required to get Covid-19 vaccine

KATHMANDU: The government has decided not to make identity cards mandatory for people to get vaccines against Covid-19 from now on.

A ministerial-level meeting of the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) held on Friday made the decision to this effect.

The ministry said that the decision was made after thousands of people across the country are believed to be deprived of Covid-19 vaccination due to the lack of Id cards.

Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari, joint spokesperson for the Health Ministry said that the decision was taken keeping in mind the risk of Covid-19 infection to many people who lack identity cards like citizenship, passports, voter identity cards etc.

“Now everyone who is eligible but lacks ID cards can also get vaccines against Covid-19”, Adhikari said.
