EC asks Rs 12 billion with government to hold local level elections

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has estimated that it will cost around Rs 12 billion to hold the local level elections.

In a six-point proposal submitted to the government on Tuesday, the Election Commission said that it would cost more if the local level elections are not held in one phase.

More than Rs 8 billion was spent in the elections held in 2017.

The Election Commission said that the budget will be spent on the salaries, allowances and daily allowances among others of the people deployed in the elections.
