1 killed, 13 injured in Sarlahi bus-motorbike collison

KATHMANDU: A person was killed and 13 others sustained injuries in a motorbike-bus collision at Banke in Ishwarpur Municipality-12 of Sarlahi along the East-West Highway on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Bhakta Bahadur Khadka (27) of Gharibathan in Ishwarpur-12. He was the pillion rider of the two-wheeler.

The incident occurred when a night bus (Na 7 Kha 753) heading towards Kathmandu from Bariyarpatti of Siraha collided head-on with a motorbike (Na 29 Pa 4498) coming from the opposite direction last night.

Similarly, motorcycle rider Arun Khadka (26) was seriously injured during the incident.

Critically injured Khadka has been sent to National Medical College, Birgunj for further treatment, police said.

As many as 12 passengers of the night bus were injured when the bus turned turtle after the collision, DSP Madhav Prasad Budhathoki, Spokesperson at the District Police Office, Sarlahi, said.

Among the injured, one person has been sent to Siraha for further treatment, police said.

Likewise, seven persons have been returned to their homes after receiving treatment at the Lalbandi Model Hospital while the remaining four are receiving treatment at the same hospital.

As many as 40 passengers were on board the bus. RSS
