Snowfall cripples normal life in Solukhumbu

KATHMANDU: Normal life in the upper region of Solukhumbu, the Himalayan district, has been affected due to heavy snowfall.

The residents of the Khumjung, a village in Khumbu Pasanglhamu Rural Municipality-4 of the district, have not been able to get out of their homes due to adverse weather.

It is said that many people of the village have gone to Kathmandu to avoid the cold weather.

About 70 percent of the people in the Khumjunbg area have gone to Kathmandu to avoid the adverse weather, said a local Pemayangji Sherpa.

The temperature was recorded at minus 13 degrees Celsius in Khumjung village of  Solukhumbu district.
