KATHMANDU: MBBS students of the Nobel Medical College, which has been charging extra fees, have reached Kathmandu to mount pressure on the government.

A team of 16 students led by Manish Bhattarai, coordinator of the Medical Education Struggle Committee, came to Kathmandu to intensify protest.

Ayush Khadka, one of the students who came to Kathmandu, said that they would protest against the college together with the students of Kathmandu Medical College (KMC).

The students of Nobel Medical College and KMC have been staging demonstrations against the colleges for the past 50 days for charging more fees than the amount fixed by the government.

Earlier, education minister, chief district officer, students, college operators, Medical Education Commission and office bearers of the Kathmandu University had held a meeting to resolve the fee dispute.

The meeting, however, ended without making a solid decision after the college administration said that the students should pay the additional fees.
