Political gatherings, festivals banned in Kathmandu Valley

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to impose ban on political gatherings, fairs and festivals in the Kathmandu Valley with effect from today midnight to contain the spread of coronavirus cases that have surging at an alarming rate of late.

A meeting of the Chief District Officers of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur held on Tuesday decided to impose ban on all kinds of political gatherings, fairs and festivals to stem the surge of coronavirus.

The government has also shut down all the schools from today until January 29.

Likewise, the educational institutions which have already made public the examinations schedule have been urged to conduct the examinations by maintaining the social distance.

The government has decided to administer Covid-19 vaccine to the children of school age group of the Kathmandu Valley from today.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, Covid-19 vaccine will be administered to the children between 12 and 17 years of age of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur in schools.
