Three killed in assorted road accidents

KATHMANDU: Three persons died in separate road accidents in Sunsari and Kailali districts on Thursday.

Two persons died after a bus (Province 102001 Kha 8196) hit a motorcycle (Ko 27 Pa 219) they were riding on in Panipiya Forest, Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City-20 of Sunsari district.

The deceased have been identified as Abi Rai (22) of Sankhuwasabha district and Santosh Rai (27) of Morang district, DSP Narendra Kumar Karki said.

Critically injured in the accident, the duo breathed their last while undergoing treatment at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan.

Police said that they have arrested bus driver Tikaram Chaudhary (44) for the investigation.

Meanwhile, a tractor knocked a pedestrian to death at Dhanchauri of Godabari Municipality-9 in Kailali district.

Karan Bhattarai (40) of Krishnapur Municipality in Kanchanpur district died in the incident, the police said.
