PM Deuba directs concerned authority to accelerate vaccination drive (With video)

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Friday directed the concerned authority to accelerate the vaccination drive.

During a meeting of the Covid-19 Crisis Management Centre (CCMC) held today, the Prime Minister directed the concerned authority to provide booster dose to the people, manage oxygen among others in the hospitals and construct holding centers in the border areas.

CCMC spokesperson Sunita Nepal said that the office bearers of the Health Ministry briefed the Prime Minister about the spread of the new variant, upcoming strategy and preparations.

“Today’s meeting discussed current situation of the country, but did not make any decision,” she said, adding, “The meeting of the CCMC will be held on Sunday or Monday again and will recommend the Cabinet.”

The meeting also directed the District Covid-19 Crisis Management Centre (DCCMC) to move ahead as per the working procedure of the smart lockdown considering the situation of the local level.

CCMC Chief Ram Prasad Thapaliya said that the next meeting of the CCMC will propose the Cabinet to take the decision.

Prime Minister Deuba, who is also the chairman of the CCMC, called the meeting today after 24 persons were tested positive for the Omicron variant of the coronavirus.
