EDCD issues directive against Omicron variant of COVID-19

KATHMANDU: The Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD) under the Ministry of Health on Monday issued a seven-point directive to health institutions across the country to prepare against the possible spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

EDCD director Dr Krishna Prasad Poudel said that the health directorates in all seven provinces, district health offices in the entire 77 districts and 753 local levels across the country have been directed to prepare against the spread of Omicron variant.

So far, three cases of omicron variant have been confirmed in Nepal.

The Division has urged the public not to create and join a gathering, requesting for taking all preventive measures including the regular use of masks and hand washing with soap and water against the virus.

Similarly, the bodies concerned have been directed to identify the vulnerable zone, ensure the COVID-test through antigen screening and manage quarantine and test facilities. RSS
