Christmas being observed across the nation with much fanfare

KATHMANDU: Christmas, the greatest festival of Christians, is being observed across the nation with much fanfare on Saturday.

It is celebrated to mark the birth of Jesus Christ which falls on December 25.

The festival has been recognised as a national festival since 2007.

The government has announced a public holiday today to celebrate the festival.

On the occasion, Christians visit churches and exchange gifts with family and friends.

There are around three million Christians in Nepal.
