Transportation of food grains to Humla begins

SIMKOT: A total of 78 quintals of food grains was transported to Limi of Namkha Rural Municipality-6 in Humla through a helicopter of the Nepal Army on Monday.

According to Chief District Officer Ganesh Acharya, the people of Limi were in imminent threat of hunger due to the closure of  Hilsa border linked to China for two years.

Nepal Army helicopter has begun transporting the food grains since Monday. The food grains have been taken to Limi via Simkot and Hilsa.

Limi would get a total of 502 quintals of rice, said Acharya. Another consignment will continue today too, he added.

Ward chair Paljor Tamang informed that the food grains would be distributed to the people of Limi, Halji, Til, and Jang villages.

A 27-member team led by Paljor had reached Simkot to request the local administration for an immediate supply of rice.

Federal lawmaker Rangamati Shahi had also reached Limi to put further pressure on the administration to address the hunger threat. RSS
