Hundi operator held with Rs 2 million from Birgunj

BARA: Police arrested a hundi operator and confiscated Rs 2 million in cash from his possession on Monday.

Chandan Kumar Shah (31) of Bishrampur Rural Municipality-5, Bara was arrested from near Ghantaghar of Birgunj.

A team deployed from the District Police Office, Birgunj rounded up Shah along with the cash while he was heading towards Adarshanagar from Ghantaghar in a motorbike (Na 48 Pa 7691).

Hundi is an informal money transfer system that uses closed networks to transfer cash without actually doing a cross-border transaction.

Police said that they have started the investigation under the Bank and Financial Institution Act, 2073.
