Bhaktapur sweet shop fined Rs 10,000 for selling expired food products

KATHMANDU: The District Administration Office, Bhaktapur has confiscated expired products from a sweet shop in Bhaktapur on Tuesday. The administration slapped Rs 10,000 fine on the shop for selling expired products.

A team led by Assistant Chief District Officer Sita Pariayar seized the products from the shop while monitoring the markets in Surbinayak and Pandu Bazaar among others of the district.

The team monitored two grocery stores, two sweet shops and a fruit shop.

Talking to Nepal Press, Pariyar said that sweets worth around Rs 2,600 and yoghurt worth around Rs 2,400 were recovered from the sweet shop.

She said that the confiscated products were destroyed later in the presence of local people.

The District Administration Office, Bhaktapur has been inspecting market places to crackdown on black marketing for the past few weeks.
