ANNFSU accuses government of protecting murderers of Nakunni and Nirmala

KATHMANDU: All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU), the student wing of main opposition CPN-UML, has accused the government of suppressing the protest of human rights activists, who were demanding justice for Nakunni Dhobi and Nirmala Kurmi.

Issuing a statement on Monday, ANNFSU Chairperson Sunita Baral expressed her dissatisfaction over the move of government to threaten and suppress the protest of human rights activists.

Earlier, the government had apprehended Rubi Khan, who came to Kathmandu on foot from Nepalgunj, from Maitighar while she was  staging a sit-in demanding justice to the victims.

She said that they would stage a demonstration against the government for protecting the guilty.

ANNFSU has demanded that the government give justice to the victims by holding a dialogue with the agitators.

Nakunni Dhobi (38) was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her home on July 20 in Janaki Rural Municipality Banke district.

Similarly, Nirmala Kurmi ( 52) had gone missing in January 2010 from the same rural municipality.
