NEA agrees not to cut internet, cable TV wires, forms committee to resolve problems
KATHMANDU: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has decided not to cut internet and cable TV wires from today.
A meeting held on Sunday in the presence of Energy Minister Pampha Bhusal made the decision to his effect.
The NEA had started cutting internet and cable TV wires from Saturday after the internet and cable TV operators expressed their reluctance to clear up the outstanding due payments.
The NEA backtracked from its decision after the state-owned power utility faces criticism from all quarters of life saying that it has violated the consumers rights.

Managing Director of the NEA Kul Man Ghising and was also present in the meeting. Similarly, representatives of the Nepal Telecommunications Authority and internet and TV companies also attended the meeting today.
The meeting has also decided to form a committee comprising representatives of all sides like Ministry of Energy, Nepal Telecommunications Authority, NEA, cable and internet companies for the long term solution of the problems. The committee was formed under the headship of Joint Secretary Bino Singh of the Ministry of Communications and Information. The committee has been given two months to resolve the problems.
Joint Secretary Anup Nepal has been appointed as the Member Secretary of the committee. The meeting was held at the initiative of Ministry of Communications and Information.
